I took my wife to Sarasota for her birthday and I didn't have any regrets choosing this destination. I've heard many good things about Sarasota and the attractions to visit are unending. From Port Charlotte, we drove to Sarasota and after an hour, we were welcomed by the beauty of the place.
Our first stop was Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. My wife loves plants so much that is why a visit to Marie Selby was a must. The one hour car drive was actually nothing. The botanical garden is so vibrant and full of plants and colorful flowers. When going to Selby Gardens, don't forget to bring your camera with you as there are so many places, plants and flowers waiting to be photographed. My wife and I loved the Outdoor Butterfly Garden and the Magnificent Banyan Grove. The Bamboo Garden is also a must-see. We saw a jaw-dropping view of the Sarasota Bay and it was truly captivating. The view of the gardens and the bay is totally breathtaking. The Rainforest Store is full of colorful orchids, tropical plants, garden accessories and books. We bought some garden decor and orchids for our own garden at home.
Our lunch was at Columbia Restaurant. The restaurant is located at 411 St. Armands Circle, just near Selby Gardens. We tried the Cannelloni de Langosta "Setes Portesa" which is actually a pasta dish with lobster meat, shrimp and scallops. For dessert, we indulged ourselves with Godiva Chocolate Cake and Sangria de Cava made with Spanish champagne, brandy and citrus juices.
After eating, we went at a nearby shop called Carman's Shoes and Handbags. Since it was my wife's birthday, I had her pick a pair of shoes and a bag of her choice as my gift for her. She chose a pair of pastel pink sandals and matching bag.
Our last stop was Wall Art Gallery at 12 N. Blvd. of Presidents. We bought wall paintings for our room, Maeve Harris' The Kiss II and Sensation paintings. The paintings made lovely decorations for our room.
All in all, our trip to Sarasota was very special. I will definitely go back to Sarasota with my wife for a longer vacation.
