| Once school is over, students are off to the beach or for vacation. But my mom, a high school teacher, has a very hectic schedule and has tons of paper work to do even during vacation. I told my siblings of my plan to hit the road with mom and treat her to an awesome and relaxing day off. My two sisters and brother were cool about it so we had the next day planning for our Sarasota road trip with our number one teacher. The next day, we held our mom captive and drove to Marina Jack's Sarasota. She was unaware of the surprises in store for her and that was actually the plan, to let surprises remain surprises. She was totally fascinated to find out we're sailing aboard Morgan Classic II, one of the sailboats at Key Sailing. The 41 feet sailing vessel is perfect for a few hours or even a day at the ocean. We chose The Pelican sailing package. I saw how delighted my mom was while watching the dolphins jump and play in Sarasota Bay and Gulf of Mexico. It's a 4-hour afternoon boat ride but the sun wasn't glaring so brightly, making our sailing experience perfect. We enjoyed the afternoon sail and the cold beverages on board. After that, we went to eat at Hemingway's Retreat located at 325 John Ringling Boulevard, less than 5 minutes by car from Sarasota Bay. It's actually one of the most popular restaurants in Sarasota with its gorgeous balcony dining and beautiful paintings. Mom thought the place was classy and cozy. She ordered Tenderloin Teasers, a Filet Mignon stuffed with pepper jack and wrapped in bacon. They served it with a key lime mustard and island barbeque sauces. We had Teriyaki Chicken, Sesame Seared Tuna, Coconut Fried Shrimp and Stuffed Meatloaf. For dessert, we had Bermuda Grasshopper Pie and Rum Runner bread Pudding. Lastly, we visited Pineapple Healing Center at 1435 S. Osprey Ave, just 8 minutes from Hemingway's. Luckily, we still had 2 hours before the spa closes. We recommended the Balancing Herbal Wrap for mom. The one-hour treat consist of grape seed exfoliation, stabilizing wrap and hydrating massage. It was a great experience for mom and for us as well. The Sarasota road trip was made even more rewarding because we saw our mom enjoy and have a blast. |
